Moving and Relocating Your Photocopier

Moving into a new office space soon? One of the key components of the move will be transporting your Photocopier. In theory, moving the copier shouldn’t be too difficult “it’s just heavy” right? 

Truth is, it isn’t too difficult at all if you know what you are doing! Here are a few tips, tricks, and rules to remember when moving your copier. 

Prepare your copier 

It is important to prepare your copier to be moved. Some copiers require you to remove specific sections, like the drum, or it may require you to lock the optic system. You may also want to remove/fold any external trays. Check your product information or check with the manufacturer to see if they have any requirements or tips for moving the machine.

Remember there are moving parts and internal chemicals

Your copier is full of liquid chemicals and moving parts. Although it is very unlikely for any chemicals to spill, the chemicals still can move or leak internally. The chemicals mustn’t be distributed too much. Which leads to the next rule. 

NEVER PUT THE COPIER ON ITS SIDE… NEVER 

This will damage the internal parts and disturb the internal chemicals. 

Hire some help 

A professional moving company should be able to help with this. You should ask if they have moved copiers before. Your ideal mover would have an array of straps, covers and have access to a truck with a tailgate lift. 

Patience 

This is a big job, so it’s important you take your time and don’t cut any corners. Photocopiers are expensive. You are better off taking some extra time or spending a little more to get the printer to its new destination safely.
